Spell a word. Then bet it on a longer one.
Wordstone is a word puzzle game for iPhone. Tap letter stones on a round board to spell any English word, then choose: take the points now, or go longer for one and a half times the payout and hope the next letter still leads somewhere.
How a round works
Every level is a points goal. Reach it as fast as you can, one word at a time.
Spell
Tap stones to spell any English word of three letters or more. The stones do not have to touch.
Decide
If the word could still grow from the letters on the board, it becomes an offer. If it cannot, it banks by itself.
Bank
Banked stones lock, then fill with fresh letters. A long word pays far more than its letters.
Finish
Reach the goal to clear the board. Your time is the score, and a fast clear earns up to three stars.
Take it, or go longer
This is the whole game. A word that could still grow is an offer, and your next tap is a decision.
Take
Bank the points now. The stones lock, and nothing can go wrong.
Go longer
Keep spelling. Each raise multiplies what the finished word pays by 1.5. Tap a letter that starts no word and it busts: whatever was riding on it is gone.
Point values are from the current build: a five-letter word pays 8, a six-letter word 12. A letter that starts no word also adds one second to your clock.
One board a day, the same for everyone
The Daily Challenge is a 50-letter board that every player gets on the same day. Play it, keep your streak, and compare times on Game Center.
- The board50 letters, new every day, identical for all players.
- Your streakCounts the days you play in a row. Shields and repairs, paid in shards, can save a missed day.
- Weekly specialThe same letters and rules with one rule bent, a new one each week.
- Daily archiveReplay any of the last 35 days, or fill in the ones you missed. Part of Pro.
Nine painted places
Every tile set brings its own place behind the board: a moonlit lake for Sandstone, a forest lake for Graphite, a canyon at sunset for Gold Leaf. Change the stones and the whole game changes with them.

Questions
What is Wordstone?
Wordstone is a word puzzle game for iPhone. You spell English words on a round board of letter stones and decide, word by word, whether to bank your points or risk them on a longer word.
How do you play Wordstone?
Tap stones to spell a word of three or more letters. If the word can still grow, choose Take to bank its points or Go longer to raise the payout by 1.5 times; a letter that starts no word busts it and the points riding on it are lost. The full rules.
Is Wordstone free?
Yes. Wordstone is free to play with ads, including the Daily Challenge and levels 50, 60 and 70. Wordstone Pro, an auto-renewing subscription at $3.99 a week or $34.99 a year (US prices), removes ads and opens every level, tile set and place.
Is the Daily Challenge the same for everyone?
Yes. Every player gets the same 50-letter board on the same day, so times can be compared on the Game Center leaderboard. Playing every day builds a streak.
When does Wordstone come out?
Wordstone is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. There is no release date yet; this site will link to the App Store as soon as the game is live.
Do I need an account to play Wordstone?
No. Wordstone has no accounts and keeps your progress on your iPhone. Game Center is optional and only used for leaderboards.
Does Wordstone work offline?
Yes. The boards and the word list are on your iPhone, so you can play without a connection. Ads and Game Center leaderboards need one.
